Teh Lay Kuan: More Employment Opportunities To Improve The Life Of The Disabled.

 (4-Dec. 2016 Penang) Dato¡¯ Teh Lay Kuan, President of Society of the Disabled Persons Penang mentioned that the disabled would like to see more employment opportunities to be given to them and the general public has a better awareness about the plight of the disabled. 

She said that in Penang, state government, the authorities concerned, various organizations, the general public and individual have put in various efforts in trying to improve the life of the group of disabled people by addressing the various obstacles being faced by them.

At the same time, she pointed out that in Penang buses are  disabled-friendly equipped now, new buildings come with disabled parking lot and ram, pedestrian walkways suitable for the disabled are built as well, etc..

From the above, she was indeed very grateful and happy to see all these positive developments even though there are still a lot of rooms for improvement. It takes time to improve the life and the welfare of the disabled.

Teh Lay Kuan pointed out the above this morning during her speech on the occasion of the 17th Blood Donation Campaign of the society held at Kompleks Masyarakat Penyayang, Penang. 

Apart from that, she also mentioned that the theme for The International Day of Persons with Disabilities 2016 is ¡°Achieving 17 Goals for the Future We Want¡±. The 17 goals are to address the common situations being faced by persons with disabilities worldwide especially in the areas of poverty, hunger, health, education, and employment.

She said that what have been mentioned are the various problems being faced by the disabled in their daily lives. The United Nation hopes to achieve all the goals by 2030 and it is a long process.

Oh Tong Keong urged the authorities concerned to sponsor blood donation campaign.

Oh Tong Keong, the invited guest of 1st vice president of Party Gerakan mentioned in his speech that he hoped the authorities concerned, apart from providing the medical personnel for blood donation campaign, could also sponsor the campaign financially so that it is not a concern in organizing the blood donation campaign.

The blood donation campaign today was jointly organized by the Society of the Disabled Persons Penang, Buddhist Light International Association (BLIA), Un Khuay Hoay Kuan, Bodhi Heart Sanctuary, Caring Rehabilitation Society of PWD Penang.
